Silvia tends to create in series, often in response to her current environment, like a visual diary of circumstances. This artwork is part of the series ‘Copper Skin’, which again is a semi-autobiographical series. Silvia’s investigation into the oxidation process of copper has captured her imagination, suggesting to her the poetic and metaphoric revival of the Phoenix. The unique green epidermis that envelopes the metal suggests transformative and protective beauty. The ‘Oxide’ series is made up of sets of paintings on heavy-weight engraving paper but using the traditional ‘Collagraph’ additive ink stamping technique. Each painting is therefore unique, yet similar to the other paintings in the series. The painting measures 76 x 107 x 3.5 cm and is attached to a 88 x 119 cm ‘conservation museum’ mat. Here we present Oxide I, a variable edition of 6 works that are all signed, numbered and dated by the artist. The work is unframed but can be framed for you on request.
The price includes shipping in a custom-built crate to keep the painting safe during transit.
