Description
Joella Wheatley’s paintings explore a world of imagined landscapes and forms where traditional drawing meets modern architecture. Her work delves into her own mindset, where these minimal spaces suggest a sense of escapism and stillness with many possible narratives and endings. Joella challenges herself and the viewer by working with the shape of each canvas and line perspective, in order to provide a sense of balance and imbalance in each composition.
Joella’s work was selected for The Future Can Wait and New Sensations at the Saatchi Gallery in 2014 and I Cheer a Dead Man’s Sweetheart at the De La Warr Pavilion. She has also been shown in the Project section of the London Art Fair 2018, in dialogue with other female artists.
