On 23rd October, at 2pm at Hat Gardens (Luton LU1 2EP), Silvia Lerin will unveil her mural ‘Rough Gemstones’, which has been commissioned by Luton Business Improvement District, whose mission is to ‘Support business growth and investment in the town centre and build pride, loyalty and positive perceptions of Luton as a whole’.
Silvia has been working on this project since July, to bring ‘a colourful and intricate geometric design to the heart of Luton, symbolising the unity, creativity and diversity of the town’s 225,226 residents. The mural’s stunning emerald hues, chosen by the local community through a public vote, represent the brilliance of Luton’s multicultural identity and its bright future.’ Jacki Flower, BID Operation Manager, expressed her excitement about the mural’s completion,
“Silvia Lerin’s mural is not just an artwork; it’s a celebration of our community’s creativity, resilience and unity.”
I am very proud to have been working with Silvia for many years now. This mural will correspond with Silvia’s ongoing practice, but will also express the town’s feelings about their hopes for their future environment. More updates to come!
