This is a new print to come from the studio, produced and published by Dark Matter Studio in a signed, limited edition of 75 (with 8 AP's and 8 HC's) and is sold unframed. For ‘Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll’ Blake has translated one of his watercolour paintings, featured in his recent exhibition ‘A Life in Drawings and Watercolours’ at the Waddington Custot Gallery, London, into a limited edition archival pigment print. The piece sees a return to the characteristically naive painterly style that defined Blake’s early career. Against a deep blue background a nude woman stands, her body entirely covered with fantastical tattoos: from George and the Dragon to Native Americans, from sketches and doodles, to American flags, Blake’s print is both visually arresting and conceptually provocative - the Godfather at his very best. -
In the 3D Circus works, Peter Blake has combined his love of the circus with his characteristic collaged crowds in a 3 dimensional format. The works are inspired by Lothar Meggendorfer 's International Circus a pop-up book first published in 1887. For his Circus, Blake has put together a central stage collage, which features a line up of unusual people, and an eclectic orchestra sourced from the Artist 's extensive collection of ephemera. In addition, two weird and wonderful audience collages in which the crowds are being entertained by a circus act sit either side of the central stage. Peter Blake 's 3D Circus was produced and published by Dark Matter Studio in 2013 and the edition is now coming to an end, but please enquire about obtaining one of the last sets.
